Bourbon Chocolate Pecan Pie

The best ever gooey Bourbon Chocolate Pecan Pie for your Thanksgiving table…or maybe just your weeknight night dessert! A classic homemade pecan pie, BUT made with the delicious additions of bourbon, and plenty of chocolate. One slice and the chocolate pours from the pie to give you a rich, delicious dessert that is practically irresistible! But, the real secret behind this pie is that touch of bourbon. It rounds out the flavor, cuts the sugary sweetness, and gives this pie a whole new depth of flavor. From the crunch of the pecans, to the silkiness of the melted chocolate, and finished with that bourbon-y filling… There’s nothing not to love! The homemade crust is crisp, but the pie is soft, gooey, messy, but so good. Finish the pie with flaked salt, a scoop of ice cream, or enjoy by itself… It’s truly the perfect pie!

About The Recipe

It’s pie season! So, could there be any better way to celebrate than with this Bourbon Chocolate Pecan Pie? Gooey, silky, absolutely delicious, and amazingly simple to make!

It’s the same classic pie you all know in love, just made SO much better. Which, I didn’t think was possible because pecan pie is my absolute favorite (right up there with the classic apple pie).

But it almost always felt like maybe it was missing that little extra oomph. You know? Like, I could (and have) make myself sick on pecan pie. My mom used to make little pecan pie bites and I would eat them until they ran out my ears, but as I got older, it always seemed to be a touch too sweet.

So, in came the idea of adding a splash of bourbon and a whole heck-ton of chocolate! This might just be our pièce de résistance.

Silky, smooth, chocolate-y, gooey, and… I can just go on all day about it!

This pie might just seem overly simple, but I promise the flavor is roll-your-eyes-back delicious and it’s perfect for every occasion!

Instructions

In a large bowl, whisk the eggs.

Add in the brown sugar, salt, corn syrup, melted butter, and bourbon. Whisk until smooth.

Stir in the chocolate and pecans.

Pour the filling into the unbaked pie crust and bake at 325 for an hour, or until set. Let cool and serve!

How To Store

Once the pie has cooled, you can cover it and store it in the refrigerator for 4-7 days. The chocolate will harden, but you can reheat it in the microwave. Just remember, the crust won’t be as crunchy and flakey!

Substitutions

  • You can use a store-bought pie crust rather than homemade, but we can’t guarantee baking times.
  • We used dark chocolate, but feel free to use semi-sweet, bittersweet, or milk chocolate.
  • If you don’t like bourbon, you can use vanilla! Just use about 1 teaspoon of vanilla in the bourbons place.

Expert Tips

  • Let the pie cool completely before serving.

  • Don’t use a smaller or larger pie pan! This recipe is specifically for a 10 inch pie pan.
