Learning how to roast peppers can really up your cooking game! It’s a great way to add heat, flavor, and an unexpected pop to any dish you can imagine. This is the easiest and best guide to roast peppers without a grill!
About The Recipe
Roasting peppers is actually somewhat new for me. I've only been doing this for the last few years!
I developed an intolerance to chili powder a few years ago. So, I set out to come up with a substitute. I tried various combinations of peppers, but I was combining them raw...
Big mistake!
They were so hot that just a brief sniff would cause me to choke.
Enter a little bit of common sense. Roasting garlic and onions makes them sweeter, so why not try it with peppers? Bingo! It works!
Ingredients
- Peppers, of any kind!
Instructions
This is such an easy process! First, turn your broiler on. Wash and dry the peppers and put them on a baking sheet. Leave a little bit of room between them so you can easily turn them.
Put them under the broiler and keep an eye on them. As the peppers start to brown, keep them flipped. Once they are browned all the way around, remove them from the oven.
Make sure you peel and take out the core/seeds! Use anyway you need.

Other Ways To Roast Peppers
If you happen to have a grill, that's another super easy way. Just preheat the grill and pop the peppers on the grates. Keep them turned until they are browned all the way around.
If you have a gas range or stovetop, you can place the peppers directly on the grate with the burner going or roast each one individually by holding it over the fire with a pair of tongs.
Expert Tips
- Make sure the peppers are fresh with no mold or bug eaten holes.
- Peel the skin and take out the core after you finish roasting!
- You can use any peppers you like.
- You can also freeze or refrigerate these until you need them!
- Be careful with the heat of peppers. You might want to wear gloves when peeling, coring, or chopping.
