Homemade Hot Chocolate Mix

Rich, creamy, extra chocolate-y, and SO. GOOD. This Homemade Hot Chocolate Mix is not only easy to make, but the perfect gift to give this holiday season!

Ingredients

For The Mix:

  • 2 Tablespoons cocoa powder
  • 6 Tablespoons powdered milk
  • ¾ Tablespoon sugar
  • Pinch of salt
  • 1 Tablespoon mini marshmallows, optional
  • 1 teaspoon mini chocolate chips, optional

For the cocoa:

  • All of cocoa mix
  • 1 ½ cups boiling water

Instructions

For the mix:

  • Whisk together cocoa powder, powdered milk, sugar, and salt in a small bowl.
  • Transfer mix into glass jar.
  • Top with marshmallows and chocolate chips.

For the cocoa:

  • In a large mug, combine cocoa mix and water.
  • Mix until thoroughly combined.
  • Serve!

Notes

Substitutions:
  • I used dark chocolate cocoa powder, but feel free to use what you have!
  • A mix of powdered creamer and powdered milk can be used. I used only low fat powdered milk.
  • Powdered almond milk or any plant-based powdered milk can be used to make this recipe vegan.
Expert Tips:
  • This mix keeps really well!
  • Make sure to sift the cocoa powder to get rid of any lumps of cocoa.
  • Marshmallows and chocolate chips are optional, but highly recommended!
  • Keep this mix in an airtight jar or container.
  • This recipe makes one drink.
