Easy, simple, extra chocolate-y and SO delicious! This Homemade Chocolate Sauce is so much better than anything you can buy and it's the perfect addition to all your favorite desserts.

Ingredients

  • cup cocoa powder
  • 1 cup chocolate pieces
  • ½ cup sugar
  • ¼ cup water
  • ½ cup heavy cream
  • 4 teaspoons corn syrup

Instructions

  • Put cocoa powder in a small bowl. Set aside.
  • Put chocolate chips in a medium bowl. Set aside.
  • Combine sugar and water in a small saucepan.
  • Cook, stirring constantly, until sugar has dissolved.
  • Pour over cocoa powder.
  • Whisk together. Set aside.
  • In a small saucepan, heat heavy cream and corn syrup until it is just starting to bubble around the edges.
  • Pour over chocolate pieces. Let stand for 2 minutes.
  • Stir together using a spatula or a wooden spoon.
  • Stir in bloomed cocoa powder.

Notes

  • Make sure you let the chocolate stand for at least 2 minutes in the heated cream.
  • Don't whisk the chocolate and cream mixture! Only use a rubber spatula or wooden spoon to stir them together.
  • Don't overcook the simple syrup!
  • This recipe will thicken in the refrigerator. If you would like a thinner consistency, heat it in the microwave for a few seconds.
  • Use a high quality semisweet chocolate for this recipe. Anything darker may make this recipe too bitter. Anything sweeter might be too sweet.
  • This sauce also works as a dip for fruits!
