  • 2 cups all purpose flour
  • 1 Tablespoon baking powder
  • ½ teaspoon baking soda
  • ¾ teaspoon salt
  • ½ cup unsalted butter
  • 1 ½ cups [sourdough starter]
  • ½ cup buttermilk
  • Preheat oven to 400 degrees.
  • Spray baking sheet with cooking spray. Set aside.
  • Sift together flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
  • Grate butter into flour mixture.
  • Toss together lightly.
  • Add starter and buttermilk and stir together gently.
  • Roll out on floured surface.
  • Cut with a 3-inch cutter and place on prepared baking sheet.
  • Bake for 20-25 minutes, until golden brown.

Notes

  • Make sure the butter is frozen so it's grate-able!
  • Don't squish the butter into the flour. Just gently toss until the butter is lightly coated with flour.
  • You can use any sized biscuit cutter you'd like. We used a 3 inch one.
  • This recipe freezes and reheated really well!
