To be honest, I am always looking for a good cocktail!

I’m one of these type people who are always looking for something new, something different. I love to experiment and find new flavors to try!

This drink was that for me. It was an experiment that turned out to be one of the best drinks I’ve made in a long time! I love the fresh and refreshing taste from this cocktail but what I love more is that it’s not super strong.

That’s right! There is not a lot of alcohol in this drink. I like drinks that are on the lighter side but are still full of flavor!

And that’s really how I landed on the idea to make this cocktail. Well, that and the fact that summer finally here! We have an abundance of fresh strawberries and mint. It seemed like a natural match and let me tell you, the first sip was just as good as the last!

How to make a strawberry mint julep cocktail

The secret to making this drink is having really good strawberries! If you choose to use our Homemade Simple Syrup and/or our Homemade Sour Mix, both of which I highly recommend, those need to be made first.

In fact, both things are great to keep on hand – just remember to keep them refrigerated!

Next, you’re going to need fresh mint leaves for this. I personally like spearmint, but peppermint will work just as well. I would definitely stay away from things like chocolate mint and pineapple mint!

Now, cut up the strawberries to make them easier to muddle. Then put the strawberries, mint leave, and simple syrup in a glass and muddle them together. Add the bourbon, sour mix, club soda, and ice!
