Notes

How to Store Your Double Chocolate Chip Cookies:
These cookies are best enjoyed fresh, but you can definitely store them in a few ways to enjoy them later!
Freezing the Dough for Later Baking:
This is a great way to have fresh-baked cookies whenever you want them! Prepare the cookie dough following the recipe instructions.
    • Portion and Freeze: Scoop the dough into balls of your desired size and place them on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Freeze the dough balls for at least 1 hour, or until solid. Transfer the frozen dough balls to a zip-top freezer bag or airtight container. Label the container with the date and bake according to the recipe instructions, adding a few extra minutes to the baking time since the dough is frozen.
Storing Baked Cookies:
  • Let your cookies cool completely on a wire rack.
  • Once cool, transfer them to an airtight container.
  • They'll stay fresh and chewy for 3-5 days at room temperature.
Freezing Baked Cookies:
  • For longer storage, you can freeze your cookies! Let them cool completely on a wire rack.
  • Place the wrapped cookies in a single layer in a freezer-safe container or zip-top bag.
  • Frozen cookies will keep for up to 2-3 months.
Tip: When reheating frozen cookies, you can thaw them at room temperature for 1-2 hours, or pop them in the microwave for 10-15 seconds on low power, just until warmed through.

A Few Tips For The Ultimate Double Chocolate Chip Cookies:
  • Temperature Matters: For the chewiest cookies, make sure all your ingredients, especially the butter and eggs, are at room temperature. This is around 70℉ (21℃). Room temperature ingredients ensure they cream together properly, creating a richer and chewier texture.
  • Salted Butter? No Problem!: If you only have salted butter on hand, you can still use it in this recipe! Just be sure to reduce the amount of added salt to ⅓ teaspoon to avoid overly salty cookies.
  • Don't Overbake: Since these cookies are dark in color, judging doneness by sight alone can be tricky. Use the gentle tap method described in the recipe to determine when they're done. The edges should feel slightly firm but not completely hard, and the centers will still appear soft (that's the chewy magic!).
  • Customize to Your Craving: Feel free to get creative with your add-ins! Chopped nuts, chopped dried fruit, or even a sprinkle of sea salt on top before baking can add delightful textural and flavor variations.
