Notes

Dietary Substitutions:
Vegan:
  • Butter: Use vegan butter for the crumble topping.
  • Honey: Substitute maple syrup or agave nectar for the honey in the glaze.
  • Ice Cream: Choose vegan ice cream or top the peaches with a dollop of vegan whipped cream for a complete dessert.
Gluten-Free:
  • Flour: Use a gluten-free all-purpose flour blend for the crumble topping. Make sure to choose a blend that includes a binder like xanthan gum.
  • Oats: Use certified gluten-free rolled oats.
Ingredient Substitutions:
  • Stone Fruits: If you can't find peaches, you can substitute other ripe stone fruits like nectarines, plums, or apricots. Adjust the grilling time slightly based on the thickness of the fruit.
  • Nuts: Don't have almonds? You can use chopped walnuts, pecans, hazelnuts, or even a mixture of different nuts for the crumble topping.
  • Spices: Don't like nutmeg? You can use a pinch of ground cinnamon, ginger, allspice, or even a blend of spices!

Tips for Grilling Peaches to Perfection:
Here are some helpful tips to ensure your grilled peaches turn out juicy, flavorful, and absolutely delicious:
  • Pick the Right Peaches: Look for ripe but firm peaches. They should have a slight give when pressed gently but not be mushy. A ripe peach will soften beautifully on the grill while maintaining its shape.
  • Heat Up Your Grill: Preheat your grill to medium-high heat. This ensures a nice sear on the peaches, caramelizing the sugars for a smoky-sweet flavor. If using charcoal, let the coals burn white hot before grilling.
  • Brush Wisely: Brush the cut sides of the peaches with a neutral flavored vegetable oil just before placing them on the grill. This helps prevent sticking!
  • Don't Overcook: Peaches cook quickly on the grill, so keep an eye on them! They're done when they're slightly softened and develop grill marks on the cut side. Overcooking will make them mushy. Aim for 2-3 minutes per side.
  • Grill Marks Make a Difference: While not essential, grill marks add a nice visual appeal and smoky flavor. If using a gas grill, preheat with the lid closed for a few minutes to get the grates nice and hot for even searing!
  • Use a Grill Basket: If you're worried about the peaches falling apart on the grill, you can use a grill basket for easier handling!
