Cake

  • 2-1/2 cups all purpose flour sifted
  • ¾ cup Dutch-process cocoa sifted
  • 1-1/2 teaspoons espresso powder
  • 2 cups sugar
  • ¾ teaspoon salt
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 3 large eggs at room temperature
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1 cup vegetable oil
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla

American Buttercream

  • 1 ½ cups butter room temperature
  • 4 cups powdered sugar sifted
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 2 Tablespoons heavy cream

Cake:

  • Preheat oven 325 degrees.
  • Grease and flour pans.
  • Combine dry ingredients in mixing bowl.
  • Stir in liquid ingredients.
  • Beat on medium speed for 2 minutes.
  • Pour into prepared pans.
  • Bake for about 25 minutes, or until it tests done.
