Basic Turkey Brine
This Basic Turkey Brine is simple with only six ingredients but the flavor is anything but!
Servings: 5 quarts
- 5 quarts water
- ½ cup salt
- ⅛ cup peppercorns
- 7 small dried red chilis
- 6 cloves garlic
- 4 sprigs rosemary
Place all ingredients in a large stock pot over high heat. Bring to boil.
Turn heat to medium-low and simmer for 1 hour.
Turn off the heat. Let brine cool completely.
- To easily peel your garlic, place it in a jar with a lid and shake it. This trick is faster and genuinely a lot of fun!
- Make sure you use kosher salt for your brine.
- Always put your turkey in a cold brine!
- This recipe is enough for a turkey breast. If you are brining an entire turkey, you will need to double the ingredients.
