Easy Southern Pecan Pie

Sweet, nutty, buttery, and oh so good, this classic Easy Southern Pecan Pie is just the pie you’ve been looking for! The crust is a simple mix of ingredients, while remaining flakey and buttery. The custard filling is made with plenty of brown sugar, a splash of vanilla, eggs, corn syrup, butter, salt, and lots of pecans! From there, you bake this delicious pie until the crust is a beautiful golden brown the custard is set. Just before serving, the pie is topped with a sprinkling of flaked salt to elevate all of those sweet and nutty flavors. Trust me, this southern classic is so very good! Each bite is nutty, sweet, buttery, and a touch salty with a perfect crunch coming from the pecans. Serve during Halloween, Thanksgiving, Christmas, School events…or just when you need an absolutely delicious pie for a crowd!

Some of the best recipe ideas come digging through old stuff, you know? Actually, our family has boxes and cookbooks full of recipes that have been handed down throughout the years! Maybe not all of them are good, but each one is just as unique as the next, and each have a fun history.

Pecan pie is no exception. Our family has had a recipe for the longest time. (Though, between you and me, this one is much better!) But, it wasn’t until my mom and I were flipping through old recipes to try and find some holiday inspiration the other day, we came across that recipe!

We already shared Bourbon Chocolate Pecan Pie last year, but we didn’t think of sharing a traditional pecan pie until now!

So, my mom sat down with her formulas, and with a little recipe testing, came up with the best-ever pecan pie! So, while generations past gave us the inspiration we needed, this recipe is just so much better. It’s easy to make, but truly delectable.

I guarantee you this pie is gonna be made pretty much every Thanksgiving from here on out! It’s not only delicious, but it’s genuinely just one of those crowd-pleasing pies that everyone loves. Well, that and our pumpkin pie!

Honestly, there’s just something in a pecan pie’s simplicity that makes it something truly special. It’s not only very easy to make, but has a depth of flavor that no other pie seems to be able to recreate! It might be bold of me to say, but I really think pecan pie is my absolute favorite.

Equipment Needed

  • Mixing Bowls
  • Whisk
  • Rubber Spatula


  • Pie Crust
  • Pecan Halves
  • Eggs
  • Brown Sugar
  • Light Corn Syrup
  • Unsalted Butter
  • Vanilla Extract
  • Salt

Place pecans in the bottom of the unbaked pie shell. Set aside.

Whisk together corn syrup and brown sugar.

Add the melted butter, vanilla, and salt. Mix well.

Stir in eggs, being careful not to incorporate any air.

Pour over the filling over the pecans in the unbaked pie crust. Bake for 10 minutes at 375. Reduce the heat to 325 degrees. Continue baking for an additional 55-60 minutes, until the pie is puffy and set. You may need to cover with foil for the last 20-25 minutes of baking!

How To Store

Once this pie is baked and cooled, you can easily store it in the fridge for 3-5 days. You can also freeze this pie whole or in slices! To reheat, just get out on the counter a few hours beforehand to allow it to come to room temperature. This pie is best served cold!

Easy Southern Pecan Pie

A true southern classic! This Pecan Pie is perfectly sweet, nutty, buttery, and just SO. GOOD. It's the perfect pie to serve during Thanksgiving and Christmas.

  • 1 unbaked pie crust
  • 2 cups pecan halves
  • 4 large eggs,, room temperature
  • 1 cup brown sugar,, firmly packed
  • 1 ¼ cups light corn syrup
  • 4 Tablespoons unsalted butter,, melted
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • ¾ teaspoon salt

    This pie came out delicious! Thank you so much for this recipe. Also anyone making this pie and using store bought 9” frozen pie crust, this recipe will make about 2 of them since they’re not that deep. Definitely recommend either the frozen deep dish pie crust or a pie baking dish so you won’t be left over with a lot of batter.
