We already have a soft spot for Classic Muddy Buddies. I mean, what’s not to love about crispy cereal covered in chocolate and powdered sugar? It’s one of those snacks that’s almost impossible to stop eating once you start!
And if you’ve spent any time looking through our summer recipes, you probably know how much we love s’mores, too.
So, combining the two just makes sense!
But instead of simply tossing graham crackers and marshmallows into regular muddy buddies, we wanted to bring that classic s’mores flavor into the cereal coating itself.

The secret? Marshmallow fluff!
We mix it right into the melted chocolate before coating the cereal, giving every bite that delicious chocolate-and-marshmallow combination. Then we add crunchy graham crackers, mini marshmallows, and extra pieces of chocolate to bring everything together.
The best part? There’s no campfire, no oven, and hardly any cleanup. Just melt, mix, shake, and enjoy!

The Secret Is in the Chocolate and Marshmallow Coating!
What makes these S’mores Muddy Buddies a little different from the classic version is the addition of marshmallow fluff directly into the melted chocolate.
Instead of getting all the marshmallow flavor from the mix-ins, we incorporate it into the coating so every piece of cereal has that familiar s’mores combination.
We use semi-sweet chocolate because its rich flavor balances the sweetness of the marshmallow fluff and powdered sugar. A little salted butter adds richness, while vanilla rounds out the flavor.
The important part is melting the chocolate gently. Heat it in short intervals, stirring well between each one, then mix in the marshmallow fluff.
Once combined, pour the chocolate-marshmallow mixture over the cereal and shake it all together!

Save the Graham Crackers and Marshmallows for Last!
Here’s where this recipe gets a little different from regular muddy buddies.
Instead of tossing everything into the bag at once, we coat the chocolate-covered cereal in powdered sugar first. Why? Because shaking graham crackers and mini marshmallows together with the cereal would break up the crackers and leave everything covered in powdered sugar.

By adding them afterward, the graham crackers keep their crunch, the marshmallows stay soft, and you can actually see all three parts of the s’mores mixture!
We also like having extra pieces of milk chocolate mixed throughout. They give you little bites of creamy chocolate between all that crunchy cereal.
The result is a snack mix with a little bit of everything in each handful!
Make Ahead and Storage
These muddy buddies are great for making ahead, especially if you’re planning a party or need an easy snack to share.
Store them in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 2-3 days.
The cereal and graham crackers are at their crunchiest when fresh, so we wouldn’t make them too far in advance. The graham crackers can gradually soften as they sit with the other ingredients.
There’s no need to refrigerate them. In fact, keeping them at room temperature helps prevent condensation from affecting the powdered sugar coating.
