Sometimes all you need is thick, chewy blondie! Especially if it’s filled with gooey chocolate chips.

Tell Me About These Chocolate Chip Blondies

  • Texture: If you’ve never had a blondie before, you’re about to find your newest obsession! It’s somewhere between a fudgy brownie and a delicious cookie bar. Blondies are soft, chewy, and buttery all in one bite!
  • Flavor: These blondies have 3 main flavors. After the first bite, you’ll taste rich dark chocolate. Lots of it! Then, after that, you’ll taste the sweet vanilla. Finally, you’ll have all that buttery richness from the blondie. SO GOOD.
  • Time: These blondies are a bit thinner than our cranberry white chocolate blondies and pumpkin spice blondies…which means, they bake much MUCH faster! For that perfect fudgy center, these blondies bake for only 35 minutes. So quick, so easy!
  • Ease: If you can mix, you can make these blondies. They require only one bowl and no specialty tools.

Honestly, think of blondies kind of like a brown sugar brownie. They’re not cake, they aren’t exactly a cookie. To achieve that perfect blondie texture, we’re using melted butter, just like we do with our white chocolate brownies, all brown sugar, and just a dash baking powder. It’s so easy and you only need pantry staples!

Here’s everything you need to make the perfect chocolate chip blondie:

  • Melted butter: This is essential for that perfect chewy blondie! If you have a few minutes to spare, why not try browning the butter like we do for our brown butter chocolate chip cookies? It’ll add an extra depth of flavor. Plus, who doesn’t love browned butter?!
  • Brown Sugar: This gives the blondies their dense texture (as well as add some delicious flavor).
  • Large Eggs
  • Vanilla Extract
  • All-Purpose Flour
  • Baking Powder
  • Salt
  • Chocolate Chips: Dark chocolate is our preferred chocolate for this recipe! It adds a little bitterness, as well as richness to cut some of the sweet from the blondie base.

The One Bowl Method

No need to have a sink full of dishes with this recipe. Just ONE bowl! Begin by mixing the melted butter and brown sugar together. Add in the eggs and vanilla. Stir in the dry ingredients. Finally, add the chocolate chips and we’re ready to bake!

Success Tip: Line your 9 inch square pan with parchment paper to make it easier to lift the blondies out of the pan, just like we do for our s’mores cookie bars and rice krispie treats!

How To Tell When Blondies Are Perfectly Baked

We found that with this recipe in particular, using a cake tester or toothpick is the best way to tell when they’re perfectly baked. After inserting the cake tester, it should still be a little damp with maybe one or two crumbs on it.

This means that the blondies are still moist and just baked!

Notes + Tips!

Storing Your Chewy Chocolate Chip Blondies

To keep your blondies fresh, store them in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 2 days. Avoid refrigeration as this can dry them out!
Freezing: Want to enjoy these treats later? No problem! Let the blondies cool completely before wrapping them individually in plastic wrap. Place the wrapped blondies in an airtight freezer-safe container. They can be frozen for up to 2 months. To thaw, let them sit at room temperature for a few hours before enjoying.

Tips For The Perfect Blondies:

  • Don’t overmix: Overmixing can lead to tough blondies. Mix just until combined.
  • Use room temperature eggs: Room temperature eggs incorporate better into the batter for a smoother texture.
  • Don’t overbake: Blondies are best when slightly underbaked for a chewy center. A toothpick inserted into the center should come out with moist crumbs.
  • Let cool completely: Allow the blondies to cool completely before cutting.
  • Get creative: Add mix-ins like nuts, dried fruit, or white chocolate chips for different flavor combinations.
  • Use parchment paper: Lining your baking pan with parchment paper makes it easy to remove the blondies and clean up.
  • Brown the butter: For extra depth of flavor, brown the butter before mixing it with the sugar.
  • Use quality chocolate chips: Good quality chocolate chips will make a big difference in the taste of your blondies.
  • To substitute salted butter: Reduce the salt in the recipe to ½ teaspoon.
