I’m sure i’ve said this before, but in my opinion, tiramisu is the ultimate dessert no bake dessert. It’s like the sophisticated cousin of trifle, but 10x better!

The beautiful layers of coffee-soaked ladyfingers cookies and creamy mascarpone create an effortlessly elegant treat, especially when placed into individual glass cups for everyone to admire. Oh, and the best part? It’s incredibly easy to make and assemble!

Whether you’re hosting a fancy dinner party, needing an easy make ahead dessert, or craving an extra decadent no-bake treat, these Tiramisu Cups are everything you need and MORE!

The 3 Layers That Make Tiramisu:

Today’s tiramisu cups are our latest obsession. it’s just like our classic tiramisu, but ready in HALF the time. We assembled and photographed these cups when we had friends coming to visit. They were a HUGE hit, so we made them again because we knew that this was a recipe that needed to be shared!

But first, let’s discuss the layers.

  • Soaked Ladyfingers: Whether you’re using homemade ladyfingers or store-bought, soaking the ladyfingers is essential to the perfect tiramisu. We like to use a combination of strong espresso and a coffee liqueur.
  • Creamy Mascarpone: Tiramisu traditionally has a cooked filling with egg yolks to add richness and flavor. To keep things simple, we are using Chantilly cream as our base instead of egg yolks. This makes the filling no-cook, only 4 ingredients, and minimal effort.
  • Cocoa Powder: Since everything in this recipe is sweet, using unsweetened cocoa powder is essential to that rich, chocolaty taste without adding any extra sweetness.

The Mascarpone Cream

The mascarpone was everyone’s favorite layer and it’s our secret to a truly unforgettable tiramisu! Its light, airy texture and subtle sweetness provide a delicious contrast to the rich coffee-soaked ladyfingers. The key to achieving this perfect balance is using high-quality mascarpone and making your own whipped cream. Avoid store-bought whipped cream, as they are often overly sweet and contain artificial ingredients/preservatives that will not make for a good tiramisu!

By incorporating mascarpone cheese into the whipped cream, you’ll create a lighter, fluffier texture that’s simply irresistible.

We’ve used this method for so many of our tiramisu-inspired recipes. A personal favorite of mine is definitely our Tiramisu Cupcakes!

Coffee Soaked Ladyfinger Cookies

The coffee soak is that delicious flavor that leaves you wanting more. It’s the perfect blend of bitter and sweet, and it’s what gives the dessert its signature flavor! To get it just right, you’ll want to use a combination of half strong coffee and a half coffee liqueur.

I recommend using a high-quality espresso and a liqueur like Kahlua (not sponsored, just really love that liqueur!). These ingredients will work together to create a complex and satisfying flavor that compliments the creamy mascarpone.

Just be sure to soak the ladyfingers for just the right amount of time – you want them to be moist, not soggy.

Building Your Tiramisu Cups

Layering a tiramisu is even easier than layering a cake! Once you have everything ready, all you need to do is place the soaked cookies on the bottom of your chosen glass, pipe a layer of mascarpone, and dust with cocoa powder. Repeat the layers until you reach the top of the glass.

And there we have it. Tiramisu cups are a stunning dessert that can be prepared in advance and impresses anyone who takes a bite!

    1. Hi Ann! You can absolutely do that! Just use a trifle dish instead of the individual cups. Depending on the size of your trifle dish, you may need to double (or triple) the recipe. Let me know if you have any other questions.
