About The Recipe

Happy Friday! We are kicking this February weekend off the right way with these waffles. Extra sweet, extra chocolate-y, and the perfect decadent breakfast for your Valentine’s Day celebrations…or just your Friday morning! Which, if I’m gonna be honest, these waffles are EXACTLY what I’m going to be having for breakfast from here until the 14th.

Seriously, can it get better than waffles that taste like Red Velvet Cake?

When my mom and I were coming up for recipes to make for Valentine’s Day, one of the first things we knew we wanted to do was something special for breakfast. I mean, is there anything sweeter than having breakfast in bed?

But, trying to come up with a recipe for breakfast FOR Valentine’s was a bit of a challenge.

We originally thought about something like a french toast, but when really thinking about it, we have a handful of those recipes and…so FEW waffle recipes on our blog! Which, is really surprising..? My mom and I LOVE waffles. They conveniently have cups to hold bites of syrup (or the topping of your choice)…which makes for a delicious bite every time!

So, with what kind of recipe we wanted to make settled, we knew we had to make these waffles red velvet.

Why? I mean, it’s red, it’s chocolate, and it’s DELICIOUS! Oh, and super simple, too.

But, if you really wanted to make these waffles extravagant, you could serve them with a drizzle of chocolate ganache or cream cheese frosting! Depends on what you like, but either way, they’re SO. GOOD.
