About The Recipe
We’re making today a little bit sweeter with these Valentine’s Sprinkle Sugar Cookies! Inspired by our Funfetti Cookies, we thought it would be fun to give them a bit of a Valentine’s make-over.
My mom and I found some Valentine’s-themed sprinkles the other day at the grocery store and knew we just HAD to make something with them!
It’s the classic cookie you know and love, but made red, white, and pink sprinkles!
The cookie itself is SO easy to make, as well as made in one bowl (which means, less dishes!). Though, I think my favorite part is that these cookies require ZERO refrigeration time.
That’s right! Just mix up the cookie dough, scoop it, and bake it. No need to wait!
So, whether you’re looking for a last minute Valentine’s Day treat or want something fun to make with family/friends, these cookies are the perfect treat.
What is a Sprinkle Cookie?
A sprinkle cookie (or funfetti cookie!) is simply a soft and chewy sugar cookie with some sprinkles added into the dough! This verison uses Valentine’s Day themed sprinkles to make it a bit more festive.
It’s a fun and easy cookie for all ages!

Ingredients
(Full ingredient amounts and instructions can be found in the recipe card at the bottom of the post)
- Salted Butter – For this recipe, we like to use salted butter, as it adds just the right amount of salt to the cookies! Remember that it needs to be room temperature before mixing.
- Granulated Sugar – Gives these cookies just the right amount of sweetness, while also giving them just the right amount of spread.
- Large Egg – You’ll only need 1 large egg for this recipe! Remember to set it out ahead of time to allow it to come to room temperature.
- Vanilla Extract – A splash of vanilla gives these cookies the most delicious flavor.
- All-Purpose Flour – Gives these cookies the perfect texture and structure.
- Baking Soda – Provides the right amount of rise, as well as making sure these cookies remain chewy.
- Valentine’s Sprinkles – Any kind of Valentine’s sprinkles will do! Just makes sure the mix you buy doesn’t have the hard pearl sprinkles.
How To Make Valentine’s Sprinkle Cookies
Step 1: Prepare dough
With an electric mixer, beat butter and sugar until light and fluffy, about 2-3 minutes.
Beat in egg and vanilla.
Stir in flour and baking soda.
Mix in sprinkles.
Step 2: Bake
Use a 1½ Tablespoon cookie scoop to portion dough onto prepared pans. Bake for 12-14 minutes, until light brown around the edges.
How To Get a Perfectly Round Cookie
The best way to achieve this is using a cookie scoop, as the dough balls will already be in close-to-perfect round. As they bake, the cookies will spread into a perfect round shape!
Though, sometimes the cookies can get a little wonky-shaped while spreading, but no worries! You can still fix it.
Using a biscuit cutter that’s larger than the cookie, bump the cookies while they’re still very hot to fit inside the cutter and circle around them to create the perfect round shape!
Mix-in Ideas
The great thing about these cookies is that they’re just sugar cookies! Which means…they will go with literally anything and everything! Here are a few of our favorite things to toss into a batch of these sprinkle cookies.
- Dark chocolate chips
- M&M’s (especially Valentine’s-themed!)
- Nuts of any kind
- White chocolate chips
- Mini marshmallows
- Chopped candy bars
How To Store
The best part about these cookies? They can be frozen for up to 3 months! Oh, yes, that’s right. After baking and cooling, you can place the baked cookies in an airtight freezer safe zip top bag and put in the freezer.
Though, if you’d like fresh baked cookies, you can actually freeze the cookie dough itself! Follow the directions all the way to portioning out the dough. From there, place a few inches apart on a lined sheet pan and place in the freezer for 1-2 hours, or until the cookie dough is frozen solid. From there, place the frozen cookie dough balls in a zip top bag and keep in the freezer for 1-2 months.
You can also keep these cookies in an airtight container or zip top bag on the counter for about a week!

Family and friends love these cookies!! I bought a bag of the White Chocolate Strawberry Shake M&Ms a while ago wanting to make cookies with it, but nobody has created a recipe!! I saw this cookie recipe in Instagram and figured I’d try it out. I followed it exactly and added 1 bag of the M&Ms. Family said the flavor was so good, with or without the M&Ms! They loved the flavor of the dough and loved the cookie part of it, but also loved how the strawberry M&Ms brought a super nice flavor to the cookie!!
